
Julie Sweet is a 2017 AAPC 40 Under 40 Award Winner
For more than a decade, Julie has been helping campaigns seamlessly integrate aggressive paid and earned media strategies with modern voter contact tactics, cutting edge research methods, and old-fashioned campaign fundamentals. Julie was named to the American Association of Political Consultants 2017 Class of 40 Under Forty, recognizing her leadership and innovation in Democratic politics.
Whether electoral politics or issue advocacy, Julie is uniquely skilled at helping her clients stay focused on building and executing a winning campaign and communicating a clear and concise message. Before joining HGCreative, Julie served as Western Political Director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) after serving as Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty and managing her improbable victory in 2012.
Julie spent her early days organizing in Chicago, advancing progressive causes from immigration reform to marriage equality before managing and advising Democratic candidates running for federal, statewide, and local office in blue states and red states across the country.

AAPC: Tell us about something you’re most proud of accomplishing in your professional career.
Julie: Working for and electing strong Democratic women. I’ve had the good fortune of helping elect women candidates when most thought it wasn’t possible. Whether it was re-electing a Democrat to Congress in Ohio, in 2010, or electing an incredibly talented woman with little by way of political pedigree to Congress in 2012, I’ve taken on some hard ones, and won.
AAPC: To what do you credit your success at such a young age?
Julie: Not knowing any better and an incredibly patient and supportive spouse.
AAPC: What advice would you give to a young professional who has their eye on being a future 40 Under 40 Award winner?
Julie: Work backwards from Election Day!
