Hayden Mora is the co-founder and Political Director of Trans United Fund (TUF), the nation’s only Political Action Committee (PAC) focused on building power for trans communities. In this capacity, Hayden directed the first trans-led independent expenditure and successfully defeated 3/3 of Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) backed anti-trans school board candidates in 2017. Later that year, Hayden ran the largest trans candidate focused independent expenditure in history to elect two, trans people of color to a major city council and played a decisive role in electing the first, out transgender legislator slated to serve in a state legislature.
Previous to TUF, Hayden was the founder and principal of The Parallax Group, a trans led consulting firm that works to combines rigorous analysis, community input and policy and electoral experience to create sustainable, progressive change. Before founding the Parallax Group, Hayden worked in the labor movement for more than ten years, last working as Deputy National Political Director at Service Employees International Union
(SEIU). As Deputy National Political Director, Hayden managed a political budget of over $50 million and directed federal and multi-state independent expenditures; coordinated campaigns for the union; developed an integrated political planning methodology and member leadership develop program; and built the largest (PAC) in the U.S.
He is widely regarded as a keen strategist and thought leader on progressive issues, organizational development, and strategy. His contributions have been featured in outlets like the Huffington Post, Rolling Stone Magazine, the Advocate, the Washington Blade, and CNN.
