AAPC: Who do you look up to in the industry and why?
Seth: This should not come as a surprise, but I look up to my boss, Walter Lukens. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t learn something new from him. He is always willing to take the time to impart the wisdom he has gained from his decades in this industry to not only myself, but junior members of the staff. His political acumen and creativity is unparalleled. But perhaps most important is that he truly lives by the maxim “you can do well by doing good” and that is baked into the culture of The Lukens Company — and also the best professional advice I have ever received.
AAPC: Tell us about something you’re most proud of accomplishing in your professional career.
Seth: I am exceedingly proud of the team that I have put together at The Lukens Company. This is a group of people who are not only some of the best operatives in the country, but their creativity and record of innovating is motivates and inspires me each day.
AAPC: What advice would you give to a young professional who has their eye on being a future 40 Under 40 Award winner?
Seth: The piece of advice that I give to almost anyone who will listen is to just be nice. People want to work with people that they like plain and simple. I don’t subscribe to the idea that you need to be hardnosed and unkind to get ahead in our industry. I have found just the opposite to be true.
