Regarded as a grandfather of modern political advertising, David Garth was a political strategist who worked on over 150 campaigns beginning in 1960 when he and Eleanor Roosevelt jointly drafted Adlai Stevenson to run for President. Over his 40 year career, he successfully elected Republicans, Democrats and Independents, including four of New York City’s last six mayors (John Lindsay, Ed Koch, Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg), U.S. Senators John Heintz and Arlen Spector and Los Angeles’ first African-American mayor, Tom Bradley.
