AAPC: What does being a 2019 AAPC 40 Under 40 Award winner mean to you?
Luis: Huge honor and validation. It’s truly amazing to be in a group with so many distinguished men and women.
AAPC: What’s next for you this year?
Luis: Breaking into the United States market prior to 2020 and growing my podcast network to five permanent shows.
AAPC: Who do you look up to in the industry and why?
Luis: First of all, my mentor and friend Matt McMillan for his tenacity and work ethic. I also admire Nate Silver and his data driven journalism and analysis. On the republican side, I believe Mr. Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale is a force to be reckoned with.
AAPC: Tell us about something you’re most proud of accomplishing in your professional career.
Luis: Being campaign manager for Puerto Rico’s first ever LGBTT state representative candidate.
AAPC: To what do you credit your success at such a young age?
Luis: Curiosity on what works and doesn’t, following my own professional path and dumb luck.
AAPC: What advice would you give to a young professional who has their eye on being a future 40 Under 40 Award winner?
Luis: Make sure you are doing new things every cicle and challenging yourself. No one knows how to do anything until they do it.
AAPC: What’s the most positive development in political campaigns since you started your career?
Luis: Small donor campaigns that rely on a big group of engaged activists and donors.
