Patrick “PC” Sweeney is a tireless and innovative advocate and political operative for libraries. He is a 2007 graduate of the San Jose School of Library and Information Sciences. Patrick is currently the Political Director of EveryLibrary, a 501c4 organization that supports libraries and library funding initiatives. He was Executive Director of EveryLibrary California, a statewide initiative to support library Propositions. Patrick has worked on dozens of library specific political campaigns and initiatives where he has helped libraries establish over 1.7 billion dollars in stable funding. He led the development of action.everylibrary.org and saveschoollibarians.org which serves as that nation’s largest digital political action site for public and school libraries and has helped raise over $250,000 through online and small donor fundraising for EveryLibrary. He is co-author of “Winning Elections and Influencing Politicians for Library Funding” as well as “Before the Ballot; Building Support for Library Funding” from Neal-Schuman Press. He is a lecturer at the San Jose Information School where he teaches courses on political advocacy and activism for libraries. He is active across social media as PC Sweeney and is a co-founder of the Library Think Tank, the nation’s largest digital community of librarians and library staff with over 35,000 members. His library blog is well respected, and he is a sought-after speaker and presenter.
