Dan Mullen is President of Indie Politics, a political and public affairs consulting firm based in Northern California dedicated to Democratic campaigns and causes.
Since opening his own firm in 2005, Mullen has developed and implemented campaigns for more than 100 candidates, independent expenditure (IE) committees, bond measures and public affairs clients. Recent clients include county parks decimated by fires, a county supervisor who’s own home burned down, two public safety building revenue bonds, a 911 emergency radio system, and a city council member elected in the aftermath of her district burning down.
Consulting directly with each client, he specializes in campaign strategy and management, with expertise in general consulting and direct mail. Working with proven partners, he provides his clients with full service consulting including direct mail, phones, tv/videos, radio, polling, research, fundraising, press relations, field, online organizing and social media.
With two decades of experience working on elections across the country, Mullen has been a leading member of creative teams that won five “Pollies” from the AAPC for excellence in design and communications.
Mullen started his political career with Winning Directions (WD), which grew to be one of the largest Democratic direct mail firms in the US while he was there. Among the firm’s premier clients were House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt, institutional committees DCCC and DLCC, caucus programs in Florida, Minnesota and New Mexico, as well as initiatives, IE programs, and candidates across the country.
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, and a Hurricane Andrew survivor himself, Mullen now lives in Northern California with his wife and three daughters.
