COVID-19 Update

A message from AAPC about coronavirus COVID-19

Dear Colleagues,

Today, the AAPC Board made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Pollie Awards & Conference scheduled for March 24-27, 2020 in Washington, D.C. Upon the public guidance issued by the DC Department of Health and other public health officials across the country, we have cancelled the conference to protect public health and the health of our conference attendees, sponsors, speakers, and staff during the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

Given the circumstances, we have revised our conference refund policy.  Registered attendees have the option to apply their registration fees to the 2021 Pollies, scheduled for March 2-4, 2021 in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace OR receive a full refund.  If you do not request a refund, we will automatically apply your registration fees to the 2021 Pollies conference in Las Vegas.  Click here to request a refund.

If you booked a room at the Capital Hilton, you should contact the hotel directly (202-393-1000) to cancel your room reservation. Hilton has relaxed their cancellation policy and any reservation scheduled for arrival before April 30, 2020 can be changed or cancelled at no charge up to 24 hours before your scheduled arrival. This also applies to reservations described as “non-cancellable” or “advanced purchase”.

All of our 2020 Award Winners will be announced this month. In addition, we plan to offer additional webinars featuring several of our expert panelists originally scheduled to speak at this year’s Pollies. Stay tuned for details on these virtual announcements and offerings.

We are sure you share our disappointment that the 2020 Pollies will not go forward, because we had excellent speakers, powerful content and exciting networking opportunities planned. However, the health and wellbeing of registrants, sponsors, vendors, staff and their home communities must be our top priority.

We will be holding terrific events throughout 2020, including the California Regional Conference on May 19th in Sacramento and our new Digital Politics conference on June 18th in Los Angeles.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing you at an AAPC event later this year.

Sincerely yours,

Rose Kapolczynski, AAPC President
