Tom Edmonds is a veteran Republican political media consultant. His Washington DC–based firm, Edmonds Associates, Inc., has received over 100 national awards for its communications strategies on behalf of presidential, senatorial, congressional, and gubernatorial candidates.
He founded Edmonds Associates, Inc. in 1980 and has worked on presidential campaigns for George H. W. Bush, Bob Dole, and Jack Kemp, and Senate campaigns for Ted Stevens, Chuck Grassley, Frank Murkowski, Lisa Murkowski, John Barrasso, and John Warner.
His firm’s non-candidate clients include the National Rifle Association (NRA), NFIB, the Washington Times, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the American Medical Association, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the Fund for a Conservative Majority, and the National Conservative Political Action Committee.
According to Dennis W. Johnson’s book Democracy for Hire (Oxford University Press), Edmonds is credited alongside Karl Rove for developing the winning strategy in George W. Bush’s 2000 presidential victory over Al Gore, one of the closest races in U.S. history (pp. 364–365).
Edmonds is the former president of the International Association of Political Consultants ( IAPC) and the AAPC and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from both organizations. He serves on the advisory board for the Center for Electoral Politics and Democracy at Fordham University.
In 1986, he was one of a small group of political consultants who helped create the Graduate School of Political Management at George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Tom’s firm has also managed election campaigns internationally, including in Panama, Austria, England, and Tunisia.
He is the author of two books on politics and public policy. He has produced a number of documentaries, including the official video biography of President Ronald Reagan, A Tribute to Ronald Reagan : An American President.
