Joaquín Guerra serves as Principal & Digital Engagement Strategist. He has more than 20 years of bi-cultural community engagement at the intersection of campaign management, digital campaigning, social movements, & political campaigns at the international, national, state, and local levels.

He is a veteran of Sen. Bill Bradley and Gov. Richardson’s presidential campaigns and some of his past work includes serving as a Senior Advisor to Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research on two Mexican electoral campaigns, Political Director of the Texas Organizing Project, directing digital strategies for Gov. Bill Richardson’s gubernatorial and presidential bids and managing digital campaigns for MoveOn.org, Presente.org, the Center for Community Change, and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). At SEIU he developed the online campaign model for stopping the deportations of DREAM Act-eligible students.

Before transitioning to the digital campaign space in 2005, Joaquín managed field programs, congressional and state representative campaigns between 1998 and 2004.

In 2000, he served as the Hispanic Field Director of the Texas Democratic Party and managed Congressman Martin Frost’s Dallas County GOTV field operation. He served as the South Texas Field Director for Tony Sanchez’ gubernatorial campaign in 2002 and in 2004 he was the Colorado State Director for Governor Bill Richardson’s 527, Moving America Forward. In 2005 he served as the State Field Director for the Democratic Party of New Mexico.

Fiercely passionate about developing the next generation of leaders, he is a co-founder of New Leaders Council in Houston and San Antonio, Texas, and a coach for New Leaders Council and the DCCC and a former coach and trainer for the New Organizing Institute and Democracy for America. He serves on the board for Pac+, a social justice PAC and MOVE San Antonio, a youth civic engagement organization.

He is the 2013 winner of the SXSW Social Revolución Mobilizer Award.
