Mike Thom serves as NRCC Political Director. During the 2022 cycle as political director, Mike played a key role in winning back the U.S. House and firing Nancy Pelosi. Currently, Mike oversees candidate recruitment, paid media efforts, polling, research, and incumbent retention. Prior to his role as political director, he served as the NRCC’s Deputy Political Director during the 2020 cycle. As deputy political director, Mike oversaw all of the NRCC’s efforts in U.S. House special elections, recruitment, and GOTV operations during the pandemic.
During the 2018 cycle, Mike served as a regional political director for 12 states in the Midwest and Mountain West, overseeing the only two competitive House seats to flip Republican in 2018, both in Minnesota. In the 2016 cycle, Mike managed Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick’s successful first campaign in the Philly suburbs. Prior to 2016, Mike worked as an RNC state director, on three presidential campaigns, and a U.S. Senate race. He’s a proud Iowan and girl dad.
