Partner- Renegade Public Affairs
Carlos Sierra is the President of Sierra Public Affairs, and a partner in Renegade Public Affairs, both full-service consulting firms working with candidates and committees of all parties, and spearheading reform-oriented initiatives across the country. He is also the Co-Founder and President of The Reform Project, a nonpartisan and nonprofit organization focusing on campaign and political reform. Carlos Sierra most recently served as the general consultant and strategist to the victorious Oscar Leeser for Mayor Campaign in El Paso, Texas. Prior to that, as a national leader in the Hispanic community, Sierra was asked to be the Co-Chairman and Campaign Manager to the Committee to Defeat Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County, Arizona. Sierra was also a regular contributor to CNN OutFront, POLITICO, and is often quoted in other publications where his knowledge, bluntness, and insight on national politics is frequently called upon. During the 2012 presidential election, Sierra served as national campaign manager to the Buddy Roemer for President Campaign – the youngest manager of the 2012 cycle. The campaign focused on reforming and ending corruption in Washington by promoting and implementing policies that diminish the special interests and uplift the average American. Carlos was one of ten national campaign managers invited to speak at Harvard’s Institute of Politics on the 2012 presidential election. Carlos Sierra first cut his teeth in politics as an intern for the John McCain for President Campaign during the 2000 presidential election. He went on to work over the next ten years in Senator McCain’s Tucson, Washington, Phoenix, Tempe, and campaign offices where he handled community outreach, constituent services, and various policy matters such as immigration reform, rural affairs, and natural resources. During the 2008 election cycle, Carlos traveled to most major primary and caucus states on behalf of the McCain campaign, helping John McCain to capture a come-from-behind victory in the primary. He then went on to become the Southwest Coalitions Director for McCain-Palin 2008. Carlos Sierra has been an advisor to dozens of Republican, Democratic, and Independent campaigns across the United States. Always supporting the reform-minded candidates over the ideologues, Carlos is known for being independent, a trait many lack in this business. Although Sierra enjoys being a thorn in the side of business-as-usual politicians, he most enjoys spending time with his two kids, Destiny and Carlos.
